To ensure the smooth conduct of the competition, the relevant arrangements are hereby announced as follows.
I. Competition Organizing Committee
Organizer: Chinese Veterinary Medical Association
Organizer: Pet Clinical Medicine Branch of the Chinese Veterinary Medical Association
Co-organizer: Taizhou BioAlly Biotechnology Co., Ltd.
II. Competition Schedule
The specific dates and schedule for the competition are as follows:
(1) Launch and Promotion of the Competition (December 2023–February 2024)
The competition was officially launched on December 27, 2023. Extensive publicity about the competition schedule has been carried out across various media channels to encourage pet veterinarians from all over the country to actively participate.
(2) Knowledge Quiz Competition (March–April 2024)
Contestants register by scanning the competition’s QR code and then participate in a knowledge quiz. Following the quiz, the top 10 contestants from each province (autonomous region or municipality directly under the central government) with the highest scores and earliest submission times will be announced, and the top 15 overall will be determined and publicly listed.
(3) Submission of Case Reports (May–July 2024)
The case report must be relevant to the clinical application of canine serum albumin and should include information on the affected animal, medical history, diagnostic tests, differential diagnosis, treatment plan, prognosis, and a discussion and analysis of the case. All submissions must be in Microsoft Word format.
Contestants shall submit their case reports and contact information to the designated email address of the Competition Organizing Committee: ljg@bldl.com.cn
(4) Review of Outstanding Case Reports (August 2024)
The Competition Secretariat shall review the completeness of all case documentation submitted by participants. Once a participant’s case documentation has been approved, a review panel consisting of at least five experts will conduct online evaluations and assign scores to each case report. The final ranking will be determined based on the aggregate scores awarded by the experts, and the top 15 participants according to their overall scores will be identified and announced.
(5) Final (September 2, 2024)
On August 20, 2024, the organizer will calculate and confirm the final competition scores for each of the two preliminary modules based on the top 15 participants in each module, using the following weighting: Total Score = Knowledge Quiz Score × 30% + Case Report Writing Score × 70%. The top 10 contestants with the highest total scores will be notified of their advancement to the finals.
The final will be held on September 2, 2024, at the Suzhou International Expo Center. The final will take the form of on-site case presentations, with judges providing live scores to determine the champion, first runner-up, and second runner-up of the competition, followed by an on-site awards ceremony.
III. Competition Format
The competition consists of two stages: the preliminary round and the final. The preliminary round comprises two modules—knowledge-based quiz questions and case report writing—while the final is an on-site case presentation contest.
(1) Knowledge Quiz Competition
This round is an online competition and consists of two parts: mandatory questions and specialty-specific bonus questions. Each participant has two attempts for each part, with the higher score being recorded. The total knowledge-score is calculated as the sum of the mandatory-question score and the specialty-bonus-question score.
The mandatory section consists of 20 multiple-choice questions, covering both “basic knowledge of canine serum albumin products” and their applications in areas such as “surgery,” “internal medicine,” and “emergency medicine.” Each question is worth 5 points, for a total of 100 points, with a time limit of 30 minutes.
The specialized section consists of multiple-choice questions that are optional and carry bonus points, totaling 10 questions. The questions primarily focus on “Special Clinical Applications of Canine Serum Albumin,” with each question worth 5 points for a total of 50 points. Candidates have 15 minutes to complete this section.
To participate in the knowledge quiz competition, you must register an account via WeChat. Pet veterinarians can scan the QR code to enter the contest.
(2) Case Report Writing
Participants shall ensure that the case submissions are those they personally managed, with a treatment course that is typical, comprehensive, rigorous, and clinically relevant, and must be prepared in accordance with the case template provided by the competition organizers.
Scoring Criteria: The competition places particular emphasis on evaluating the scientific rigor and clinical efficacy of canine serum albumin in the management of internal medicine and surgical conditions.
