Ingredient(s) and Indications
The active ingredients of Compound Miconazole Nitrate are miconazole nitrate and chlorhexidine gluconate. Indicated for the treatment and management of various fungal and bacterial dermatoses in companion animals, including but not limited to skin conditions caused by Microsporum canis, Malassezia pachydermatis, and Staphylococcus intermedius.
Pharmacological Actions
Miconazole nitrate is a broad-spectrum antifungal agent that acts by inhibiting fungal cell membrane synthesis and disrupting metabolic processes. It is active against dermatophytes and Candida spp., and also has some efficacy against certain Gram-positive cocci. Chlorhexidine gluconate is a cationic surface-active antiseptic with broad-spectrum antibacterial activity; its mechanism of action involves altering the permeability of bacterial cell membranes.
